Thieno(3,2-C) pyridine deriv. (I) [Y=hydroxy, alkoxy, amine; X=hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl! is prepd. for use as a medicine for thrombosis. 3.47g of methyl-2-chloro-O-chloro phenyl acetate and 19.82g of calcium carbonate are mixed with 20g of 4,5,6,7tetrahydro- thieno (3,2-C)-pyridine in 200ml of dimethyl formamide. This mixt. is heated at 90≦̸C for 4hrs. The reaction solvent is evaporated and then the residue is extracted with diethyl ether. The ether extract is wahsed, dried and then crystallized to give methyl- -[4,5,6,7- tetrahydrothieno (3,2-C)-5-pyridine!-Ochlonophenyl acetate.
