PURPOSE:To surely join two metallic members by supporting the side face of one part of a flange like member, by pressing the above of the periphery near the inner face part of the hole on the side face of the other part by a punch and by flowing the flange member into the recessed part of the unevenpart with its plastic deformation. CONSTITUTION:A knurling part (uneven part) 2 is formed by the plastic work of a form rolling and the like at the prescribed place on the outer periphery of a bar like body 1 over the whole periphery thereof. The flange shaped member 4 made of metal having the hole 3 with nearly the same inner diameter with the outer diameter of this uneven part 2 and having smaller deformation resistance than of the bar like body 1 is arranged so that the inner face of the hole 3 is opposed to the uneven part 2. The uneven part of the bar like body 1 is then held by the plastic deformation of the flange shaped member 4 by pressing by the punch 9 which is fitted to the bar like body 1 having a projecting part 8 on the lower face by supporting the flange shaped member 4 by providing a metal die 6 at the lower side of the flange shaped member 4. In this way the forming of the unevenness is easy by form rolling, etc. and the production cost is remarkably reduced and the strength of the bar like body can be increased.
