A pressure-tight pipe connection comprises a threaded spigot 2 having a conical recess 6 tapering from an end face thereof to a cylindrical bore 7 extending to a radially projecting shoulder 5 adjacent a through bore 18 of the spigot, a cap screwable 13 on the spigot, and an intermediate ring 1 with a conical surface 25 which, in use, abuts against the inner surface 17 of a flanged end of a pipe 16, the conical surface merging into an oppositely inclined conical surface 3 which abuts the conical recess 6 of the threaded spigot. The intermediate ring 1 has one or more deformable lips 4 adjacent a recess 9 at the end of the conical surface 3 which faces the threaded spigot 2, the lip or lips 4 having a radius (R1) which is greater than the radius (r1) of the cylindrical bore 7 of the spigot 2, and the recess 9 is dimensional so that the sealing lip can be pressed into it when the lip is being deformed during assembly. <IMAGE> |
