PURPOSE:To easily perform the arrangement of dimension lines in equal intervals by allocating the dimension lines made into groups in every direction and arranged according to a position nearest to a drawing picture to the dimension line group estimated in a prescribed interval in order. CONSTITUTION:The data of the dimension line is extracted from the data of a CAD design with a dimension line extraction means, and dimension line data in the same direction are collected with a direction classifying means, then being classified to groups G1, G2,.... And a distance from a drawing picture reference point by every group is calculated, and the dimension line data by every group is arranged according to the length of distance. Next, against a dimension line l1 represented by a dimension line data L1 nearest to the drawing picture, dimension lines l2, l3,... are estimated at every prescribed interval with an equal interval arranging means, and the previous dimension line data L1, L2,... are allocated to these dimension line groups, then a prescribed dimension line data being set. The dimension line data are displayed on a CRT screen with a display means.
