PURPOSE:To facilitate relief at the time of the misoperation of a character kind changeover key by providing a character conversion table which corresponds to plural kinds of characters that input key have respectively. CONSTITUTION:An input device consists of a keyboard 1 on which plural kinds of characters can be inputted with one key by using the input character changeover key in combination, a memory 3 which has the character conversion table corresponding to plural kinds of characters, a display device which displays inputted characters and has a cursor, and a processor 4 which converts the characters. If 'hita' to be inputted in 'HIRAGANA' (cursive form of Japanese syllabary) is inputted in 'ROMAJI' (Roman character) without placing the input mode changeover key in 'ROMAJI' mode by mistake, the display device displays 'kunikachi'. In this case, the range to be corrected is specified with the cursor and the input mode changeover key is pressed, so that 'kunikachi' is converted into 'hita' by the processor 4 according to the conversion table in the memory 4 and displayed correctly on the display device.
