The subject of the invention relates to the technical field of rifles. The support is noteworthy in that it consists of an element E1 forming, at its top part, the sight holder 1 and, at its bottom part, a half-sheath 2, and of another element E2 forming a complementary half-sheath; these two half-sheaths are assembled around that part of the weapon T, located between the breech casing B and the barrel C, called the cartridge chamber, without any contact between the breech casing and the barrel.
