PURPOSE:To obtain an economical anode having low oxygen overvoltage by depositing a noble metal on a Pb or Pb alloy anode used in an industrial electrolytic apparatus by a chemicals substitution process and by heat treating the anode at a specified temp. CONSTITUTION:An anode of Pb or a Pb alloy contg. 0.1- several % Ag, Ca, Te, Sb, Tl or Sn used to electrodeposit a metal such as Zn, Cu, Mn, Cr or Cd on a cathode from an electrolytic soln. acidified with sulfuric acid or to carry out Cr plating in a Cr plating bath contg. sulfuric acid is immersed in a soln. of the nitrate or hydrofluoride of a noble metal such as Pt, Ir, Ru, Pd, Ag or Au to reduce the compound and to deposit the noble metal on the anode by a chemical substitution process. The anode having the deposited noble metal is heat treated at 100-300 deg.C. Thus, an anode having lower oxygen overvoltage than the conventional Pb or Pb alloy anode and economizing electric power is obtd. |
