PURPOSE:To enable the cost to be lowered, by providing a single drive source capable of being rotated both forward and reversely, and using the drive source as a common drive source. CONSTITUTION:When a drive source capable of being rotated both forward and reversely is operated to rotate a screw shaft 7 forward and reversely, a carriage 4 is reciprocated. In a forward stroke, a printing head 16 is pressed against a recording paper by a spring and performs printing according to a printing signal. When the carriage 4 is moved rightward, a pinion 21 engaged with a rack 20 is rotated, oscillatable gears 23, 24 engaged with the pinion 21 are rotated and an L form oscillating plate is oscillated clockwise, whereby the rotation of the gear 23 is transmitted to a take-up shaft 15 through a small gear 26 and a large gear 25, thereby taking up an ink ribbon. When the carriage 4 is moved leftward after it reaches the right end and printing in one line is finished, the pinion 21 engaged with the rack 20 is rotated, whereby the printing head 16 fitted to a turnable member 19 is separated from the recording paper. |
