The corrugated-cardboard blank 1 is cut out into two parallel strips 2, 3 connected together via a flap 15 which is articulated to the strip 2 along the line 10 and to the strip 3 along the line 13. The flap 15 is cut out from the strip 3 along a line 12 which constitutes, together with the articulation line 13, the equal sides of a right-angled isosceles triangle. By pivoting about the articulation lines 10 and 13, the strip 3 is turned back transversely over the strip 2, in position for receiving the article to be packaged. The packaging adapts, in terms of height, length and width, to the article to be packaged. The invention applies particularly to the packaging of articles such as books or discs (records). <IMAGE>
