The adjustable obstetrical chair is intended to improve the conditions of labour of mothers-to-be and its place is primarily in delivery rooms of maternity wards. The invention consists of a chair whose parts a, b, c, 2, 4, 6 hinged together (Fig. 2) may be controlled in order to be placed in the desired position, from the bed position to the chair position for the comfort of the patient. The height adjustment of the chair and its rotation in the sagittal plane allow correct positioning of the genital orifice of the mother-to-be for the midwife. The part a which is open at the time of delivery allows manipulations by the midwife and recovery of the baby. The seated position at the moment of childbirth is produced by virtue of the invention; this is the ideal position for the mother-to-be who, holding the handles 3, effectively aids the expulsion of the baby. By adjustment of the positioning of the seat of the patient, the chair may also be used in surgery for various operations of the seat. <IMAGE>
