The braking system has a pair of independant braking circuits operated by a brake pedal (23) with respective pressurised air sources controlling a number of wheel braking cylinders. Emergency braking of the trailer is initiated upon failure of the trailer b-ake line (25) via an emergency venting valve (27) with an associated electronic control (20). The emergency braking is maintained upon failure of the latter by an auxiliary connection between the emergency venting valve (27) and the second braking circuit (24).
