PURPOSE:To provide an optical recording method whereby ternary recording and high-speed recording can be performed and images with excellent stability and high quality can be recorded, by using a combination of an azulenium salt compound and a diacetylene derivative compound in forming a recording layer. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording medium has a recording layer which comprises a polydiacethylene derivative compound and an azulenium salt compound having a skeleton of the formula, wherein each of R1-R7 is hydrogen, a halogen or a monovalent organic residue. In this optical recording method, the medium is irradiated with light while controlling the light exposure according to recording information, and a color change is caused by light with a light exposure Q1 while pits (recessed parts) are formed by light with a light exposure Q2 (Q1<Q2). By using a single sheet of the recording medium with semiconductor laser, high-density recording by ternary recording comprising the color change recording and the pit recording can be performed, and high- sensitivity high-speed recording can be performed. Since the recording layer is homogeneous and has favorable surface properties, optical recording can be performed with excellent stability and high quality. |
