PURPOSE:To prevent sticking of stains to the head part surface of a core by preliminarily coating the surface to serve as a sliding surface of a magnetic head with a resin and working the end face of the core. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head 5 is adhered to a polishing jig 3 by a resin adhesive agent 6 and further a coating material 7 such as coating material, adhesive agent or wax which can be stripped by an org. solvent is coated by, for example, a dipping method over the entire part of the magnetic head core 5. The side face 5a of the core is polished in this state. The stains by the polishing liquid, abrasive grains and swarm are prevented from sticking to the head part surface 5b of the core 5 to serve as the sliding surface of the head as said surface is coated with the coating material 7.
