PURPOSE:To simplify retrieving operation by inputting keyword data and retrieving and reading out image information corresponding to a retrieval code having the keyword data from a storage means. CONSTITUTION:When a disclosure No. e.g. out of plural keywords is inputted from a keyboard 3, a control device 4 accesses a floppy disk 2 to obtain an address on an optical disk device 1 and accesses the optical disk device 1 by using the address to read out image information for disclosed patent application corresponding to the disclosed number when the data of an applicant and a sort No. are inputted out of the keywords, the control device 4 accesses a floppy disk 2 and lists up only the address corresponding to the applicant and the sort No. and accesses the optical device 1 by using the address to read out only the image information for the necessary disclosed patent pablication. The read image information for the disclosed patent application is retrieved and outputted to a display part 5. Consequently, the retrieving operation can be simplified and retrieval can be easily executed.
