PURPOSE:To give sufficient rigidity to a head supporting and oscillating mechanism and facilitate miniaturization by providing a hole in which a flexible cable that extends from a head carriage to a circuit substrate passes through in the column of a supporting block that supports the head carriage holding a recording and reproducing head to allow free oscillation and thereby providing a passage and space for moving of the flexible cable even when a large-sized voice coil motor is installed. CONSTITUTION:A flexible cable 10 that extends from a switching circuit substrate 9 connected to a head 8 and fixed to a carriage block 4 is fixed to the carriage block 4 by a presser 13 and from there, it is bent to U-shape and reaches to a pre-amplifier substrate 14. By making the column of a supporting block 19 using two columns 19A and 19B and making a hole 20 that passes the flexible cable, passage of the flexible cable can be ensured even when a voice coil motor becomes large. Accordingly, a head supporting and oscillating mechanism having sufficiently high rigidity can be supplied. It is enough to make the longitudinal size 24 of the hole 20 slightly larger than the width 23 of the flexible cable 10.
