PURPOSE:To easily process a detection output by forming the first and the second conductors whose width has been varied against a turning angle by a prescribed function, on the peripheral surface of a cylinder, so that they are opposed to a rectangular conductor which has been formed on a rotor. CONSTITUTION:A rotor 21 is supported concentrically and freely turnably in a derivative cylinder 14. On the peripheral surface of its cylinder 14, the first and the second conductors 11, 12 whose width has been varied against an angle thetaby prescribed functions f(theta), (a)-(f)(theta), (a is one constant) are formed. Also, the conductors 11, 12 are connected to an AC oscillating part 40 of a 180 deg. phase difference, and on the peripheral surface of the rotor 21, the third rectangular conductor 24 which is opposed to all of the conductors 11, 12 in the width direction, and whose length in the peripheral direction has been set to a suitable prescribed length is formed, and its output is detected. In this way, in accordance with a turning angle theta between the electric conductors 11, 12 and the conductor 24, an amplitude of the output is varied, information of the output which has been fetched against the turning angle is varied monotonously, and an angle can be detected continuously extending over the whole periphery.
