The production of numerous different tubular insulating casings for the numerous different outside diameters of pipes for heating and refrigerating lines is avoided in that, in the interior of the insulating casings, elastic, arcuate spacers bridge the gap between the inner side of the insulating wall and the outer side of the pipeline such that, even with totally different pipe diameters, the elastic, arcuate spacers rest on the pipeline to be insulated and air chambers are thus formed between pipeline and insulating-casing inner wall, the result being an additional insulating effect which saves energy.
