The aim of the invention is to automate the feed bar change when changing tools on presses in order to shorten the resetting times. The object of the invention is to make the support and feed bars automatically releasable and connectable from/to their drive system at a suitable point and allow them to be transported separately. The intention is that it should be possible to accomplish the coupling process during the longitudinal motion of the support bar. According to the invention, this is achieved by virtue of the fact that external tapers are provided on the ends of the support-bar centre piece (7) and these are in operative connection with internal tapers on the support-bar end pieces (8; 9) and can be clamped together by clamping levers arranged on the support-bar centre pieces (7), and that the lifting and support mechanisms (5; 6) have vertically adjustable tongues which are in operative connection via the tongue entries with the support-bar centre piece (7), and that compensating devices for the follow-up travel and for positioning and preloaded individual slides for the exact positioning of the support-bar centre piece (7) in the longitudinal direction are arranged in the lifting and support mechanisms (5; 6). <IMAGE>
