The invention is used for bringing together bottles from a multi-track store to a single-track conveyor, the store having apron conveyor chains which run at a low speed, and channel-forming bars and furthermore transverse blades being provided at the store outlet between the individual apron conveyor chains and above the latter. The object of the invention is to transfer containers having a circular base area from a multi-track store to a single-track conveyor under constraint conditions at a high rate. The essence of the invention consists in that there are located, before and after the transverse row of containers located at the store outlet, transverse blades which are to be retracted and which execute, together with the row of containers, an accelerated movement perpendicular to the transverse blades, the distance between the lateral guides having an increasingly small value and the now unbroken row of containers being assigned a slide-like transmission element which is located at another position in the transmission above the single-track conveyor.
