PURPOSE:To obtain a stable fungicidal and mildewcidal agent solution having remarkably high concentration, by dissolving 2-benzimidazolecarbamic acid methyl ester using an aqueous medium containing hypophosphorous acid and a specific organic carboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:The objective fungicidal and mildewcidal agent is produced by dissolving 2-benzimidazolecarbamic acid ester in an aqueous medium containing hypophosphorous acid and a water-soluble organic carboxylic acid which is liquid at normal temperature (especially preferably formic acid, acetic acid or propionic acid). The amounts of hypophosphorous acid and organic acid preferably satisfy the formulas I, II and III [X is concentration of 2- benzimidazolecarbamic acid ester; Y is concentration of hypophosphorous acid; Z is concentration of organic carboxylic acid (wt%)]. EFFECT:Extremely useful from the viewpoints of storage and transportation.
