The present invention relates to an improved device for charging an electrophotographic apparatus which aims to efficiently and uniformly charge a limited region on the photosensitive material (3) where the picture image is formed by corona discharge as well as to uniformly distribute the electric charge over the entire surface of said region on the photosensitive material, and is characterized in that conductive members (5, 6) are provided on both sides of the corona wire (1) in the charging chamber as the opposed electrodes and that film masking means are projected toward the opening (4a) of said chamber in a manner to allow the same to nearly or completely abut with the photosensitive material.
