PURPOSE:To prevent slip flaws and corner burrs by supporting press rolls by means of bearings in such a manner that the hollow spherical end faces thereof maintain the partial contact with the spherical belts of the body faces of vertical rolls in the concentrical relation therewith and forming wedge-shaped grasping parts to enclose the transverse ends of the rolling material with the peripheral faces of both roll bodies. CONSTITUTION:The vertical rolls 1, 1' are constituted as disk-shaped rotating bodies having the cylindrical peripheries consisting of the axially concentrical spherical bands 1a, 1a' and the press rolls 2, 2' are constituted as cone-shaped rotating bodies having the hollow spherical faces 2a, 2a' which are concentrical and the same diameter and are respectively in partial contact with the spherical bands 1a, 1a' at the end faces. The rolls 1, 1' and the rolls 2, 2' form the wedge- shaped grasping part 4 to enclose the transverse ends of the material 3 to be rolled with the respective cylindrical peripheral faces 1a, 1a', 2a, 2a' and make cross rolling down of the material 3 while pushing the material toward transverse center of the material. The satisfactory cross reduction is thereby realized without the trouble by the slip flaws and corner burrs.
