PURPOSE:To enhance the accuracy and the torque of a 2-phase step motor by splitting a rotor shaft so that two gaps formed between rotor discs and stator poles are adjustable independently from one another. CONSTITUTION:Rotor shafts 3a, 3b are supported by bearings 2a, 2b to the centers of upper and lower half casings 1a, 1b, and rotor discs 4a, 4b are fixed to the shafts 3a, 3b, respectively. A prepressure is applied to the bearings 2a, 2b by interposing a spring 10 between the end faces of the shafts 3a and 3b to eliminate fluctuations of the shafts 3a, 3b, and the thickness of a washer 9 is arbitrarily altered to regulate a gap length between the pole faces of stator poles 6a, 6b and the discs 4a, 4b.
