Method for welding a fixing element combination to thin-walled coated parts made of aluminium or special steel, permitting the attachment of, for example, fixing parts to a frying pan or saucepan provided with a non-stick layer on the inside, on which a handle can then be mounted. In order to avoid damage to the coating due to the heat which arises during the welding process, a basic supporting part is first of all attached to the thin-walled part in such a way that there is an air gap between the basic supporting part and the thin-walled part at least over a certain area. The supporting part proper is then welded to the basic supporting part in this region which is thermally insulated relative to the thin-walled part by the air gap.
