PURPOSE:To make a head float with a clearance in parallel with a disk by the floating force of an air flow caused by the rotation of the disk and to prevent the disk from being damaged by fitting the disk so that its surface is tilted by the prescribed angle with respect to the recording surface of the disk. CONSTITUTION:While the disk 3 is stopped, one surface 9b of the head 9 corresponding to the center side of the disk 3 forms the prescribed distance between the recording surface of the disk 3 and itself, while the other surface 9c of the head 9 corresponding to the outer peripheral side of the disk 3 forms a smaller distance than that of the surface 9b. When the disk 3 is rotated, the floating force in proportion to the distance from the center of the disk 3 acts on the head 9 due to the air flow. The surfaces 9b and 9c operate against a pressure spring 11 by their different floating forces, and become approximately parallel with the recording surface of the disk 3. Accordingly there is no concern that one surface comes into contact with the disk and damages the disk.
