PURPOSE:To obtain a recording material for use in full-color ink jet recording which has excellent ink receptivity and luster of recorded images and is free of surface tackiness, blocking or the like even under a high humidity condition, by incorporating a polymer complex of a basic polymer with a styrene/maleic acid copolymer of an ester compound thereof in an ink-receiving layer. CONSTITUTION:A recording material comprises a base and an ink-receiving layer, both thereof being light-transmitting and the ink-receiving layer having a smooth and glossy surface. A polymer complex incorporated in the ink-receiving layer is constituted of a basic polymer and a styrene/maleic acid copolymer or an ester compound thereof, is soluble in good solvents such as dimethylformamide and dimethyl sulfoxide, and is useful for forming the ink-receiving layer. With the polymer complex used, a recording material excellent in various performances such as ink fixing properties and water resistance can be obtained. With the styrene/maleic acid copolymer or an ester compound thereof selected as an acidic polymer constituting the polymer complex, an ink-receiving layer showing a high film strength of an ink-receiving part, particularly, at parts where ink dots are concentrated and being free of blocking or color transfer even when printed films are stacked shortly after printing can be obtained. |
