PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of end fall of thread by providing a thread end control member having a guide edge for guiding the thread end of a running line to the vicinity of a traverse center in plural position near a drum which is apt to cause an end fall in the running direction of the thread. CONSTITUTION:When the defective section of thread is detected by a slub catcher 6 and the thread is positively cut, the thread end connected to a package 10 is apt to jump up and the thread end moves, along the inclined guide edge of the first control member 14, in the direction shown by an arrow 46 by the running force of thread and next moves to the center and its vicinity inside a traverse range. Further the thread end which passed by the control member 14 is shifted in the opposite direction to the direction of end face of the package 10 by the second control member 15. Next the thread end which passed by the control member 15 is wound up round the package 10 before reaching a package end face by the third control member 16 and there never occurs an end fall. Further when the thread is cut in the vicinity of a bobbin, the thread end is prevented, by means of the torque of a drum, from its end falling by the control member 16.
