PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption to a great extent, by a method wherein when non-printing, the distance between a mooring portion and a power transmission member is set smaller than a maximum amount of generated displacement of a piezoelectric element. CONSTITUTION:A piezoelectric element 11 is connected to a power transmission member 12 at a free end thereof and to a mounting member 13 at the other end thereof. A leaf spring 14 provided with a printing pin 15 and a mooring portion 16 is connected to the mounting member 13 at an end thereof. In the quiescent condition, the distance between the mooring portion 16 and the power transmission member 12 is set approximately half a maximum amount of generated displacement of the piezoelectric element 11. With an equivalent mass of a power generation portion consisting of the power transmission member 12 and the piezoelectric element 11 equal to that of a printing portion consisting of the printing pin 15 and the mooring member 16 and a restitution coefficient 1 in collision, all the mechanical energy stored in the piezoelectric element is transmitted to the printing portion, thus a printer of extremely high efficiency can be realized. |
