PURPOSE:To improve the effect of washing out the impurities packed in filter media by permitting optional selection of a filter circuit, direct flow circuit and backwashing circuit as desired by the turning operation of a selector valve. CONSTITUTION:The selector valve 8 is provided between a water supply path 7 and drain path 9 formed in a body 1 of a water cleaner to be attached to a faucet 2 of a water supply system and the following circuits a)-c) can be set and selected as desired by the turning operation of the selector valve 8: a) The filter circuit from the water supply path 7 to the drain path 8 through the route in the filter media 5, b) the direct flow circuit from the path 7 to the path 9 by bypassing the media 5, and c) the backwashing circuit form the path 7 through the backward path in the media 5 to a waste water path 20 provided separately from the path 9 are set so as to be selected as desired. As a result, the effect of washing out the various impurities clogged in the media 5 is improved. The cleaned water having good quality is thus obtd. and the life of the filter media is improved.
