PURPOSE:To obtain multicolor images with favorable quality free of color misregistration, by providing a capstan formed of a highly stiff metal or the like and rotated at a fixed speed on the recording paper supplying side of platen, and a pinch roller for pressing a recording paper against the capstan, and rotating the platen through a slipping mechanism. CONSTITUTION:Printing in the first color is conducted while a recording paper 4 fed by a capstan 6 rotated at a fixed speed is fed by a platen 1. The circumferential velocity of the platen 1 is set to be higher than that of the capstan 6, so that a gear C and friction members 18, 19 slip on each other to equalize the circumferential velocity of the platen 1 to that of the capstan 6, and the paper 4 is fed at the circumferential velocity of the capstan 6 which being recorded. When the capstan 6 and the platen 1 are rotated counterclockwise to feed the paper 4 toward the supplying side, the platen 1 is rotated counterclockwise in a driven manner, so that the paper 4 is fed at a fixed velocity equal to the circumferential velocity of the capstan 6, and is stopped after being fed to a recording-starting condition.
