PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition excellent in water resistance and chemical resistance, by mixing a specified saturated aliphatic carboxylic acid with a natural fatty acid, a polybasic acid and a polyalcohol. CONSTITUTION:The titled composition is obtained by mixing 1-100pts.wt. at least one saturated aliphatic carboxylic acid (A) of the formula (wherein R1-2 are each a 1-6C alkyl and R3 is H or R1), e.g., a mixture of 0.15-1mol of a sec. carboxylic acid and 0.85-0mol of a tert. carboxylic acid, with 50-150 pts.wt. natural fatty acid (B) (e.g., coconut oil fatty acid), 50-200pts.wt. polybasic acid (C) (e.g., phthalic anhydride), 50-200pts.wt. polyalcohol (D) (e.g., trimethylolethane) and, optionally, a modifier (E) (e.g., phenolic resin) and reacting the mixture by heating.
