For the purpose of forming a housing, a lower housing part (10) is provided with a housing cover in such a way that the housing cover is mounted on the lower housing part by means of hinges (12, 13). In order to avoid stress cracking corrosion and stress cracks in the housing cover (20), a frame (14) is provided which has a depression (19) into which the free edge of the housing cover (20) is inserted and locked therein and fixed therein by means of a mouldable or injectable sealing compound (24) which is filled into the depression (29) after insertion of the edge of the housing cover (20). The individual joining or mounting elements of the housing cover (20) on the lower housing part (10) are attached to the frame (14). This results in a stress-free mounting of the housing cover (20) on the lower housing part. This arrangement is preferably applied in light fixtures with fluorescent lamps in which the housing cover corresponds to the light fixture trough.
