1,167,437. Cold separation of air. AIR REDUCTION CO. Inc. 29 Aug., 1967 [6 Sept., 1966], No. 39448/67. Heading F4P. Production of oxygen-rich air is effected by partly condensing cold saturated compressed air within vertical tubes 19 cooled by indirect heat exchange with sub-cooled oxygen-rich liquid which is vaporized in passages 20 surrounding tubes 19 and obtained by withdrawing oxygen-rich liquid from a pool 28 below tubes 19, sub-cooling in exchangers 40, 41, 42 traversed by uncondensed feed air withdrawn from the head of tubes 19 and expanded in turbines 50, 51 and expanding the sub-cooled oxygenrich liquid in a valve 56 to a pressure sufficient to propel it through vaporizer passages 20; product oxygen-rich air in the gaseous phase being withdrawn through a line 58. The cold content of the product and of the expanded lean air is recovered in conventional regenerators 13 to 16.
|
