PURPOSE:To release a display delay sensed by an operator at the superposed display of plural media by displaying a rough picture to which plural media are superposed within a short period and gradually displaying highly accurate pictures. CONSTITUTION:Data 11 obtained by encoding the run length of the 1st medium and data 12 obtained by encoding the run length of the 2nd medium are stored in the media storing area 10 of a memory. At the 1st scanning, images at every other lines of the 1st medium are displayed, and at the 2nd scanning, images at every other lines of the 2nd medium are displayed respectively between the scanning lines of the 1st medium. In the 3rd scanning, the residual image of the 1st medium are displayed so as to be superposed to the 2nd medium, and at the 4th scanning, the residual image of the 2nd medium is displayed so as to be superposed to the 1st medium. Consequently, the rough picture of plural media can be decoded and displayed within the same time as that required for decoding and displaying a single medium.
