发明名称 APPARATUS FOR DETECTING NUCLEIC ACID FRAGMENT
摘要 PURPOSE:To enable measurement with high sensitivity and to enhance the reliability of analysis and to increase a detection speed, by forming the outer peripheral shape of an annular scintillator into a parabolic surface and allowing a nucleic acid fragment to coincide with the focus of the parabolic surface. CONSTITUTION:A detection apparatus is constituted of a columnar gel 10 molded from a glass tube 14, a scintillator 20 having a parabolic surface shape and a secondary photomultiplier tube (PMT)13 etc. A nucleic acid fragment 12 migrates through the gel 10 in MW order but beta-rays from the radioactive isotope labeling the nucleic acid fragment 12 is converted in to fluorescence by the scintillator 20 and said fluorescence is subjected to photoelectric conversion by PMT13 to be detected as a current. At this time, the shape of the outer peripheral part 21 of the scintillator 20 is formed into a parabolic surface in order to efficiently guide fluorescence due to beta-rays to PMT13 and the position of gel 10 through which the nucleic acid fragment 12 passes is allowed to coincide with a focus. Further, the parabolic surface of the outer peripheral part 21 of the scintillator 20 and the inner peripheral part thereof are respectively coated with reflective materials 22, 23 to block external light from the circumference.
