PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium capable of writing and reading and improved in reproduction deterioration without laminating any reflective layer, by a method wherein a specified methine coloring matter is used in a recording layer, and a quencher is incorporated in the recording layer. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer comprising a methine coloring matter of general formula I or II, wherein R1 is an alkyl group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, an amino group or the like, R2 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or the like, each of R3 and R4 is an alkyl group, an aryl group or the like, each of Y1 and Y2 is a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a sulfo group or the like, each of L, L1 and L2 is a methine group, and m is 1, 2 or 3, and a quencher consisting of a transition metal chelated compound such as an acetylacetonato-chelate, optionally with a resin such as a polyolefin and a vinyl chloride copolymer, is provided on a base consisting of a resin, a glass or the like without providing any reflective layer, to obtain the optical recording medium. |
