PURPOSE:To obtain smooth operation for an actuator in which a cylindrical output rod is fitted onto the outer periphery of a screw shaft adapted to be driven for rotation, with a simple arrangement, by using a bearing having rolling members held between the cylindrical output shaft and the screw shaft in order to guide the elevation of the output rod. CONSTITUTION:An actuator preferable for a cab tilting device in a cab-over type large size vehicle, has a screw shaft 2 which is rotated in association with the rotation of a motor 8 through a reduction gear mechanism 6, and which elevates an output rod 10 in the axial direction thereof by means of a ball screw 16 when the screw shaft 2 is rotated. In this arrangement, the inner race 20a of a bearing 20 is fixed to the top end of the screw shaft 2 by means of a nut 22, and rolling members 20b are held between the inner face 20a and the inner peripheral surface of the output rod 10 so that the arrangement of the bearing 20 is completed. Further the bearing guides the elevation of the output rod 10. With the arrangement of the above-mentioned bearing 20, it is possible to eliminate an outer cylinder from the bearing and therefore, it is possible to attain the miniaturization and cost-reduction of the actuator.
