PURPOSE:To prevent wasteful consumption of fuel without injecting fuel when starting or stopping an engine by providing the pressure input part of a received pressure operating device for operating a pressure fuel injector, faced to a combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION:In a fuel injector 8, a fuel pressurizing chamber 17 is connected to a needle housing chamber 19 through a pressure fuel introducing out passage 22, while also connected to a nozzle body housing chamber 14 through a fuel connecting port 23. Fuel from a fuel tank 25 is fed into the nozzle body housing chamber 14 via a quantity regulating device 26 and a feed pump 27, and from a fuel injection port 24. This fuel flows into the fuel pressurizing chamber 17 through the fuel connection port 23 and, after being pressurized by a plunger 20 which is moved together with a slider 11 driven by the inside pressure of a combustion chamber, flows into the needle housing chamber 19 through the pressure fuel introducing out passage 22, lifts up a needle 18 against an injection pressure setting spring 28, and is injected into the combustion chamber from a fuel injection port 29 formed on the tip end of a nozzle body 13.
