PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for adjusting a tape travel and a head position and to omit a drum lead part by setting the number of revolutions of a rotating head higher at reproduction than at recording so as to scan a tilting track plural times. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic tape 1 is traveled in the direction of an arrow at the same speed at the time of reproducing, and a rotating head drum is rotated twice the number of revolutions at the time of recording, whereby the scan pitch of the tape in the longitudinal direction is set to 1/2, which is the same as the number of revolutions at the time of recording. The track TA at that time is passed by the head three times to be completely reproduced. Although the reproduction order is not the same as at the time of recording, digital data of one track is divided into plural blocks, added with a frame and the address of a block, and can be rearranged in accordance with the address order. Accordingly, even if the tilting angle of the head scan is different from that of a recording track, it can be reproduced the same as when it is correctly fitted.
