Device comprises heated discs to define an enclosed cavity between them where the cereal explodes and expands to fill up the cavity. The cavity is bounded by three components, e.g. an opening in a stationary plate and a lower and an upper disc which are movable into the opening. The lower disc is movable between three positions, the mid-position defining a shallow cavity for loading with a metered quantity of cereal. - The upper disc comes down to close that cavity and subject the contents to a pressure adjustable between 0 and 180 kg/cm2 and heat for 2-10 sec. when the contents explode and expand to fill the cavity. The upper disc returns upwards and the lower disc is raised until flush with the plate, the wafer then being removed whilst the disc surfaces are scraped and a new charge loaded. |
