PURPOSE:To eliminate the interference of air intake pipes with each other and ensure optimum air intake by providing a throttle valve, a surge tank and an air intake passage independently for two air intake ports of each cylinder and making the air intake passage into long and short types. CONSTITUTION:Two air intake ports 19 and 20 provided for each cylinder are independently fitted with throttle valves 4 and 5, surge tanks 3 and 4, air intake passages 1 and 2, and air intake ports 17 and 18. Of the two air intake passages, the passage 1 is made larger and the passage 2 shorter. At low engine speed, only the throttle valve 5 opens and air is intaked through the longer air intake passage 1. When an engine is running at high speed, another throttle valve 6 opens as well and air is intaked through both air suction passages 1 and 2. In the aforesaid operation, air intake pulses of both air suction systems do not interfere with each other.
