PURPOSE:To eliminate the necessity of highly accurate readjustment and to prevent a CCD position from being shifted by the oscillation of a device by fixing a solid-state image pickup element fitting body with a holding member by an adhesive after adjusting the position of the solid-state image pickup element. CONSTITUTION:A CCD adjusting plate 17 to which a CCD supporting member 20 is fixed is temporarily fitted to a CCD base 13 through screws 23, 23' and leaf springs 22, 22' and the base 13 is engaged with the leaf spring 11 and temporarily fitted to a prescribed position on a light receiving unit 10. Then, the CCD base 13 is moved to adjust the position on the X and Z surfaces of the CCD 3, the recessed parts 28a, 28a' of arms 28, 28' to be CCD adjusting jigs are engaged with the engaging notched parts 29, 29' of the CCD adjusting plate 17, an adjusting pattern set up on an original platen glass is read out by the CCD 3, and the CCD adjusting plate 17 is moved in the Z direction so that the output signal is set up to the optimum status. Positional adjustments in the X and Y directions are similarly executed, and after the end of the adjustment, the CCD adjusting plate 17 is fixed to the CCD base 13 and the CCD base 13 is fixed to a light receiving unit by the adhesive.
