PURPOSE:To form a thin layer of a single-component developer easily to uniform layer thickness and a uniform surface potential by setting the surface roughness of a carrier surface below a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:An endless dielectric belt 1 as a latent image carrier is extended among a proper number of rollers 1a rotatably. A developing roller 2 as a developer carrier is arranged rotatably in a rolling contact state at part of the dielectric belt 1. A supplement roller 4 for supplementing fresh toner which is not used by the developing roller 2 is arranged rotatably near the circumferential surface of the developing roller 2 almost at the opposite side of the development position D where it rolls of the dielectric belt 1. The surface roughness of the toner carrier surface of the developing roller 2 is set below 4S. |
