PURPOSE:To reduce the magnetic reluctance of the titled head and to improve the magnetic efficiency by forming the remaining magnetic circuit part including the recording medium sliding surfaces on both sides of a magnetic gap chip with a ferrite material having higher permeability than the magnetic gap chip. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic gap chip 4 is formed with the ferrite material 11 having high saturation magnetic flux density, ad the remaining magnetic circuit part 5 including the magnetic recording medium sliding surfaces 15b on both sides of the magnetic gap chip 4 is formed with the ferrite material 12 having higher permeability than the magnetic gap chip 4. The high-Bs ferrite base material 11 is composed of 54-56mol% Fe2O3, 11-15mol% ZnO, and the balance MnO, and the high-mu ferrite base material 12 is composed of 52-54mol% Fe2O3, 16-20mol% ZnO, and the balance MnO. The thermal expan sion coefficient alpha of the high-Bs ferrite base material 11 is controlled to 135X10<-7>/ deg.C, and that of the high-mu ferrite base material 12 is adjusted to 126X10<-7>/ deg.C. Consequently, the permeability of the whole magnetic head is enhanced, the magnetic reluctance is reduced, and the magnetic efficiency of the whole head can be raised.
