PURPOSE:To obtain a bulb-type fluorescent lamp having no flickering of light directly after being lighted, by making its lamp current be 380mA or more and its current density be 140mAcm<-2> or more. CONSTITUTION:Nearly U-shaped inner glass tubes 2 and 3, which comprises openings 4 and 5 at their one end and electrodes 6 and 7 coated with a mixture of barium, strontium, calcium oxide at the other end, one sealed in an airtight cylindrical outer tube 1, together with 5Torr of mercury and argon gas. Discharge between inside glass tubes 2 and 3 is connected with plasma 8. In this way, lamp current is made to be at least 380mA, and current density being at least 140mAcm<-2>. Hence, flickering of light disappears directly after lighting is started.
