PURPOSE:To assure that the read information is the front and rear face of the same slip by setting a slip onto a slip stand, turning the slip stand and inverting the surface of the slip opposite to a sensor unit. CONSTITUTION:The lock of a locking mechanism 5 is released, a slip stand 1 is opened, a slip 9 is mounted on a slip stand 2, the slip stand 1 is closed and the slip 9 is set between slip stands 1 and 2. A sensor unit 10 shifts on a guide rail 17 in the X1 direction of an arrow while a surface 9a of the slip 9 is read, and arrives at a position B of other edge of the guide rail 17. A driving source 20 is operated, a bracket 18 and the slip stands 1 and 2 are turned to 180 deg. around a stand rotating center 19, and a claw part 21b is fixed and locked by a solenoid 22. The front and rear face of the slip 9 are inverted, the sensor unit 10 is shifted in the X2 direction of an arrow and a rear surface 9b of the slip 9 is read.
