PURPOSE:Prepreg having improved molding properties, shelf stability, strength and heat resistance, obtained by impregnating reinforcing fibers with a resin composition containing an allyletherified substituted phenolic novolak resin and an N,N'-bismaleimide compound. CONSTITUTION:A liquid resin obtained by blending (A) an allyletherified resin containing >=50% phenolic hydroxyl groups obtained by reacting a novolak resin (preferably cresol novolak resin) with an allyl halide in the presence of an alkali with (B) an N,N'-bismaleimide compound, such as N,N'- diphenylmethanebismaleimide in a ratio of double bond in the component A to double bond in the component B of 0.3-3, preferably 0.5-2 is impregnated into (B) reinforcing fibers, preferably carbon fibers, alumina fibers to give the aimed prepreg having 5-70vol%, preferably 10-60vol% volume % fiber content ratio.
