PURPOSE:To minimize the consultation of a dictionary accompanying the uneasiness of misspelling at the time of inputting and to improve the efficiency of a foreign sentence preparation by providing a spell checking processor, and checking the spell at a system side. CONSTITUTION:When an English character is inputted from a character input device 1, Yen is added and inputted after the word as the special symbol added to the word to desire the checking of the spell. The inputted character column is temporarily held at an input character string preserving part 2, and for a spell checking processor held by the system, each time the input of one sentence, a spell checking object word detecting part 6 detects the word in which a special symbol Yen is at the end and a spell checking part 7 execute the spell checking. The word to have the inputted spell is obtained in a dictionary 8 for checking the spell, when the word having such a spell does not exist, the word is decided to be a misspelling, the word is blinked on a displaying part 4 and it is informed that the word is misspelled.
