PURPOSE:To obtain an individual identifying device in which sensing is simple and the extraction processing of a characteristic quantity is easy by using the shape of ears as the physical characteristic of an individual. CONSTITUTION:To a person to whom the coming and going are permitted from and to a special place, the characteristic quantity of ears 2 is fetched by an image pickup device 1 as an image pickup information S, a characteristic quantity extracting means 4 extracts the characteristic quantity concerning the shape and quantity is registered in a memory means 5. The characteristic quantity of the ears 2 of the person who hopes the coming and going from and to the special place is extracted through the image pickup device 1 by the characteristic quantity extracting means 4, a deciding means 6 compares the extracted characteristic quantity with the characteristic quantity stored at the memory means 5 and permits the coming and going when both characteristic quantities are coincident. Illumination 3 is given from the prescribed direction to the ears 2, a shade is emphasized and the characteristic quantity extracting means 4 extracts the ruggedness shape or the outer shape of the ears 2. |
