PURPOSE:To provide a hot water storage device capable of using a heat pump singly as a heat source and obtaining a sufficient quantity of usable hot water even when a hot water storage tank is miniaturized to carry out storage of hot water, by heating water to hot water utilizing a heat pump type freezing cycle. CONSTITUTION:When the operation of a heat pump type freezing cycle is carried out, water 30 within a hot water storage tank 3 is heated, and the temperature of water exceeds a condensation point of a coolant, a coolant gas in a heat exchanger 2 for hot water storage is not radiated and condensed. The coolant gas is introduced as it is into an auxiliary heat exchanger 4 wherein it is heat exchanged with water 50 within an auxiliary tank 5. Thus, the coolant gas is radiated, condensed and liquefied, and drives the heat pump type freezing cycle while displaying a heating effect to heat water 50 within the auxiliary tank 5 to hot water. When a tap 32 is opened, service water enters from an inlet water pipe 33 to the bottom part of a hot water storage tank 1, and hot water of the same quantity is pushed up and served for use via a hot water supply pipe 31 and the tap 32. |
